KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Thunderstorms rolled through Missouri and Kansas, yanking down power lines and trees and causing power outages.

The National Weather Service says the storms hit Missouri and Kansas early Thursday and could continue through the evening.

Downed trees and power lines were reported around both states, but much of the power had been restored by mid-day Thursday.

In Warrensburg, the Daily Star Journal reports (https://j.mp/296ORal ) that several trees around that western Missouri city were uprooted in the storm, which had winds reaching speeds up to 60 mph. A few homes and cars were also damaged there by the falling trees, but no injuries were reported.
