LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 20-year-old Las Vegas woman is expected to face a murder charge after police say she concealed the birth of a baby girl who was found dead in a bathtub.

Las Vegas police say Veronica Salazar was hospitalized after calling for medical help a little before 12:30 a.m. Wednesday from an apartment where the child was found.

The Clark County coroner says the child died a few hours later. A cause and manner of death weren’t immediately determined.

Salazar will be expected to appear in court following her hospitalization. It wasn’t immediately clear if she has a lawyer.

Nevada has a Safe Haven Infant Protection Act that lets parents surrender a child under 30 days old at a hospital, urgent care facility or occupied fire or police station without facing criminal charges.
