BALTIMORE (AP) - Authorities say a 9-year-old girl who was rescued after falling into a northeast Baltimore creek has died.

News media outlets say police and fire officials reported that the girl, who has not been identified, died Tuesday.

Witnesses say the girl was walking across a pipe on Sunday afternoon at Herring Run Park when she slipped and fell into the water. The current pushed her into a deep part of Herring Run Creek.

The girl was pulled from the creek, and first responders initially pronounced her dead at the scene. But officials later confirmed she had a pulse, and she was taken to a hospital.
