BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A 19-year-old Bismarck man who allegedly fired a gun at a woman has been charged with attempted murder.

Trevor Peterson made his initial court appearance Tuesday but didn’t enter a plea. Court documents don’t list an attorney for him.

Police say the Sunday night shooting occurred after Peterson tried to sell drugs to a man and a woman outside of an apartment building.

Peterson allegedly punched the man in the face when they refused the offer, went inside the building and retrieved a handgun, which he fired into the air and at the woman. No one was hurt.

Peterson also is accused of breaking a window in a patrol car after being arrested.

He could face up to 21 years in prison if convicted of attempted murder and criminal mischief.
