Chicago Red Stars goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher has been named player of the month in the National Women’s Soccer League.

Naeher allowed only one goal in four matches during May. She had three shutouts as the Red Stars went 3-0-2 on the month.

The 28-year-old is currently with the U.S. women’s national team in preparation for a match against Japan on Thursday in Colorado.

Naeher, who came to the Red Stars last November in a trade with the Boston Breakers, shares the league lead with four total shutouts this season.

She combined with Chicago defenders Julie Johnston, Arin Gilliland, Katie Naughton, Casey Short and Samantha Johnson for an NWSL record 485-minute shutout streak from April 16 to May 22.

It is Naeher’s first player of the month award.
