MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) - A Missoula man was arrested after a woman called 911 to report she spotted someone driving her stolen car.

The Missoulian reports (https://bit.ly/1TXGMbj ) 23-year-old Mackenzie Robert Shaeffer made an initial appearance in Justice Court Tuesday on charges of felony theft, criminal mischief and drug possession. He did not enter a plea.

Prosecutors say the woman reported her car stolen on Saturday. Later that day, she called police again, saying she was following her stolen vehicle in another vehicle.

Court records say officers followed the car until it pulled into a parking lot and the driver fled on foot. Officers tackled Schaeffer. They reported finding a small amount of methamphetamine in his pocket.

The woman said the car’s wheels had been spray painted black and there was damage to the body and windshield.
