GONZALES, La. (AP) - Ascension Parish sheriff’s deputies say a 20-year-old St. Amant man who allegedly supplied heroin to a 20-year-old Baton Rouge man faces a second-degree murder charge after test results confirmed the man died of a heroin overdose.

Lt. Col. Bobby Webre tells The Advocate (https://bit.ly/1WwywkD) Andre Wilson already was in jail on counts of obstruction of justice, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. Webre says the second-degree murder charge was added Friday after autopsy and toxicology results confirmed that Abraham Said died of a heroin overdose.

Bail for Wilson is set at $300,000.

Louisiana law allows arrest and prosecution for second-degree murder if the distribution or dispensing of an illegal drug is the direct cause of a death.

Online jail records do no list an attorney for Wilson.
