BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) - Police have identified a man who was struck and killed by a Mercedes-Benz SUV backing out of a parking lot behind Brockton District Court.

Responding officers found 66-year-old John Buckley, of Bridgewater, on the sidewalk at about 8 a.m. Wednesday. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the SUV traveled about 100 feet in total, traveling up an embankment and over bushes before striking Buckley. The SUV then dragged Buckley before striking a building.

The driver remained at the scene. Police have not identified her because no charges have been filed.

Police are also investigating an unrelated pedestrian fatality at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in Revere, where authorities say a man was struck and killed on Route1A. The driver involved stopped. No names were released.
