ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A 22-year-old man could spend the rest of his life in prison for beating his grandmother to death and setting fire to the apartment where she was babysitting four of his cousins.

Don’Kish Lesane was sentenced in Rochester Tuesday to 25 years to life for the 2014 death of Winnie Butler during an argument.

The Monroe County District Attorney’s office says Lesane beat and strangled Butler in front of her 5-, 4- and 1-year-old grandchildren and set the first-floor apartment on fire to cover up the crime. He brought his cousins with him to safety when he left the burning home.
