PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities are seeking a van missing from a southwest Philadelphia home where a 78-year-old man was slain.

Police also said that Joseph Daly had apparently been assaulted several days before he was found dead of blunt force trauma and strangulation.

Officers found a rear window broken and the rear door unlocked Tuesday afternoon, and then they found him lying on the living room floor. Witnesses said as many as three people were seen fleeing the home early Monday morning.

Homicide Capt. James Clark said investigators believe that Daly had been assaulted and perhaps robbed by several juveniles about a week earlier but it wasn’t reported to police. He said a $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
