The Powerball jackpot reached into the nine-figure sums Wednesday as officials drew for an estimated $100 million prize, as the jackpot continued to build four weeks since the last big winner.

The winning numbers were 40-69-33-23-30, with the red Powerball being 12.

If taken as a lump sum, as most recent big lottery winners have chosen to do, the $100 million prize would be worth $65.5 million. Federal taxes would quickly take almost 40 percent of that amount, with state taxes a possibility on top of that.

The $2 Powerball tickets are sold in 44 states, along with the District of Columbia and some U.S. territories.
