JEFFERSON, La. (AP) - State police are investigating the death of man whose body was found in the roadway of the Earhart Expressway.

Senior Trooper Melissa Matey says the unidentified man’s body was found shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday near the Jefferson-Orleans parish-line.

Matey says the victim was riding a bicycle near the shoulder of the road when he was struck from behind.

She says troopers believe the victim was struck a second time by another vehicle.

Matey says evidence collected from the scene indicated that one of the vehicles is believed to be a Toyota with front end damage.

She says the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office will perform an autopsy in order to identify the victim.
