GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a north Florida teen was critically injured when a semitrailer hit the school bus he was boarding.

The Gainesville Sun (https://goo.gl/HfpZqt ) reports that the 15-year-old was on his way to Howard Bishop Middle School when the crash occurred Tuesday morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that the Alachua County school bus was stopped in the right lane picking up children when the semi swerved and started to jackknife. The truck passed the front doors of the bus, and the front of the semi hit the open doors and the student.

The teen was taken to a Gainesville hospital.

The semi’s driver was cited for careless driving.
