ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - An upstate New York teenager who shot and killed a 27-year-old man last year has been sentenced to 22 years to life in prison.

Seventeen-year-old Jaushi’ir Weaver of Albany was sentenced Tuesday in Albany County Court.

Weaver was caught on video shooting 14 times into a crowd of people near downtown Albany and confessed to city police. The weapon used in the killing of Courtney Yates was quickly matched to Weaver, who was convicted of murder in April.

Yates was shot in the head and two other men were wounded in the attack. Prosecutors say the killing was motivated by revenge for the murder of a 21-year-old man a week earlier.
