SAUGERTIES, N.Y. (AP) - A 41-year-old man faces murder charges in the fatal shooting of his ex-girlfriend inside the man’s Hudson Valley home.

Police in the Ulster County town of Saugerties (SAW’-ger-teez) say officers responding to a 911 call around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday found 24-year-old Amy Burger dead from a gunshot wound.

Officials say they later arrested Karon Bowden, who lived at the home, and charged him with second-degree murder.

He was arraigned in Saugerties Town Court and sent to the county jail without bail. Prosecutors say he doesn’t have lawyer yet.

Police haven’t released details of what led to the shooting.

The slaying is the second in less than a week in Saugerties, 40 miles south of Albany. Last Thursday, a 26-year-old man was charged with stabbing another man to death.
