VALLE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in northern Arizona say a suspect has been booked into jail on suspicion of two counts of attempted second-degree murder.

Coconino County Sheriff’s officials say 67-year-old Larry Thomas McGowan was booked into the county Detention Facility on Tuesday.

It’s unclear if he has a lawyer yet.

Sheriff’s officials say they responded to a domestic assault in progress at a residence in Valle on Friday night.

They say McGowan fled the home on foot prior to arrival of the deputies, but was arrested about two hours later.

Authorities say the victim sustained multiple injuries from being struck with a baseball bat.

She was airlifted to Flagstaff Medical Center. Her name hasn’t been released.

Sheriff’s officials say another witness also sustained injuries while trying to report the alleged assault.
