GIBSONIA, Pa. (AP) - Police say an 82-year-old who meant to step on the brake hit the gas instead and rammed her car into the lobby of a Pittsburgh-area post office.

Northern Regional Police Chief Robert Amann says the woman wasn’t hurt and won’t be charged.

Fortunately, there were no customers in the Gibsonia Post Office in Richland Township when the crash occurred shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Amann says the woman’s car smashed through the entrance doors, went through the lobby, and stopped in the sorting room. No employees were hurt, though police say some were a little shaken.

The post office remained open for limited business.

Postal Service spokesman Tad Kelley says agency officials were assessing the damage.
