FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) - A stripper authorities say fled the U.S. in 2009 just before she was scheduled to go on trial for allegedly attacking another exotic dancer at a Massachusetts club has been held without bail.

Prosecutors say 35-year-old Katherine Pimental pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Fall River Superior Court to multiple charges including assault and battery with intent to maim.

Prosecutors say Pimental forced her way into a bathroom stall at the King’s Inn in Dartmouth in 2007, hit another dancer on the head with a bottle, and slashed her arms and face.

Pimental, who lived in Providence, Rhode Island, at the time, was released on $5,000 bail, but failed to show up for her 2009 trial. Authorities say she fled to the Dominican Republic.

Her attorney urged the public to “not judge yet.”
