BOSTON (AP) - A man charged with assaulting a 67-year-old man in a Boston park has been held on $25,000 bail.

Michael Bruzzese (bruh-ZESS’-ee) pleaded not guilty Friday to charges including assault and battery on a person 60 or older.

The 51-year-old Bruzzese is charged in connection with the June 1 attack at the Belle Isle Marsh Reservation in East Boston. Prosecutors say the suspect punched the victim, stole his car keys, and took about $300 from the vehicle.

Prosecutors say Bruzzese has a lengthy criminal record and was released from prison about a month ago after serving time for breaking and entering.

Bruzzese’s arrest is not connected to the death of 83-year-old Daniel Pepe, who died three days after he was injured in the same park. That case remains under investigation.
