TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Two men have been convicted of shooting an off-duty corrections officer to death during a party three years ago at a Trenton banquet hall.

NJ.com reports (https://bit.ly/25OOtrI ) jurors on Thursday found Maurice Skillman and Hykeem Tucker guilty of murder, aggravated assault and weapons charges in the 2012 shooting death of officer Carl Batie.

Batie had been a Mercer County Corrections Officer. He was standing on a balcony at the Baldassari Regency Banquet Hall when nearly two dozen shots rang out from a parking lot below. Batie was fatally shot in the head.

Investigators used surveillance footage to identify Skillman and Tucker as the shooters based on a varsity jacket one of the shooters was wearing.

Defense attorneys had said the video was too grainy to be able to identify anyone.
