BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (AP) - An Oklahoma restaurant is suing three women, saying they falsely claimed that employees told a nursing mother to leave or cover up her breastfeeding child and triggered an outcry on social media.

The Tulsa World reported Friday (https://bit.ly/1Xe2p9y ) that Eggbert’s restaurant sued the nursing mother and two friends, claiming libel and slander. The mother had said other patrons complained to waiters about the breastfeeding and wanted her to cover up. The lawsuit says the mother wrote a handwritten letter to the restaurant, but that the other women revised it, typed it and shared it with traditional media and on social media.

Eggbert’s says the mother acknowledged the other women’s typed letter didn’t accurately reflect what happened. There was no answer Friday at a phone listed for the mother’s Bartlesville house.
