PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia police say one man has died and another was wounded in a gun battle with one another in the city’s Hunting Park neighborhood.

Police haven’t released their names, but say the 47-year-old dead man had wounds to the head, chest and back. The other man, who is 26, was shot in the shoulder and taken to Temple University Hospital.

Police say the incident happened about 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

Police Chief Inspector Scott Small says the men were firing at one another across a street. Police found evidence that 17 shots were fired, and say they found a gun beneath the deceased victim.

Police say both men lived on the street where the shooting occurred, but they didn’t immediately discuss a motive.
