PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - State Police say they’re investigating a fatal crash where the driver hit a deer before the vehicle rolled over.

Police have not yet publicly identified the driver.

Police say troopers responded to a reported motor vehicle accident on Route 295 in Johnston at about 5 a.m. on Friday.

They say the preliminary investigation revealed that the driver was in an SUV traveling south when the vehicle struck a deer and the driver lost control.

The SUV rolled over several times before landing on its passenger side.

Police say the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected, sustaining fatal injuries.
