BETHLEHEM, N.Y. (AP) - State police have released the name of the 43-year-old New York man who was killed when his motorcycle was involved in a crash that snarled Thruway traffic near Albany for hours.

Troopers say Friday that William Walsh of Cairo (KAY’-roh) in Greene County was traveling north on Interstate 87 around noon Thursday when he collided with a tractor-trailer in the town of Bethlehem, just south of Albany. Police say he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 62-year-old Albany-area man driving the truck wasn’t injured.

The crash closed I-87’s northbound lanes between Exit 22 and Exit 23 for several hours and caused backups in the southbound lanes as well.

Troopers say the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
