SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - A Santa Fe elementary school teaching assistant is accused of molesting two students.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reported Thursday (https://bit.ly/1UkMiEX) that a bench warrant has been issued for 29-year-old Sergio Muterperl on eight charges including criminal sexual contact and enticement of a child.

Muterperl is currently on paid leave from the Santa Fe Public Schools pending the outcome of an investigation.

According to a criminal complaint, a 7-year-old girl alleged three months ago that Muterperl inappropriately touched her.

A nurse found an injury that investigators say was consistent with sexual assault.

A 9-year-old girl in another class reported being molested by Muterperl when he baby-sat her on several occasions.

Muterperl’s attorney, Roxie Rawls-De Santiago, told the newspaper that Muterperl looks forward to defending himself in the appropriate forum.
