SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - A 26-year-old man who was shot early last Sunday on Syracuse’s crime-ridden south side has died.

Authorities have identified the victim as Jose Vazquez, of Syracuse.

Police responded to several fired shots just after 4 a.m. Sunday and found a wounded Vazquez. He was transported by ambulance to Upstate University Hospital and listed in critical condition for several days, never regained consciousness, and died Thursday.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Syracuse Police at 442-5222. Anonymous tips also may be submitted using the “SPD Tips” App.
