ALPENA, Mich. (AP) - Two Michigan Air National Guard squadrons of A-10C jets are practicing the use of air-to-surface weapons this week over Lake Huron near Alpena.

WHSB-FM reports (https://bit.ly/1Xn2XtB ) it’s the fourth year that the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center has been part of the Pike Live Fire Exercise, which is designed to prepare crews for overseas missions.

The National Guard says pilots will be flying Tuesday through Friday and will use the Lake Huron Overwater Range, located about 20 miles off Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula.
