COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say two young siblings have died in a house fire in central Ohio.

A spokesman for the Columbus Division of Fire says the brother and sister, ages 10 and 12, were dead at the scene Tuesday morning.

Firefighters found one of the children a foot or two from the front door and the other in a hallway of the home north of downtown. Names haven’t been released.

Firefighters say two adults escaped without serious injuries.

Battalion Chief Steve Martin says neighbors called 911 to report the fire shortly before 6 a.m. He says the house was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause. They say the fire may have started in the basement.
