CLINTON, La. (AP) - The brother of a slain East Feliciana Parish School Board member will fill the vacant position.

WAFB-TV (https://bit.ly/1UO9Voc ) reports Edwards Brooks Jr. was appointed during a special meeting Monday night to take over for his brother, 34-year-old Broderick Brooks, who was killed in Baton Rouge.

A special primary election has been set for Nov. 8 and a general election is scheduled for Dec. 10.

Broderick Brooks was found in his vehicle May 23, shot multiple times.

Investigators arrested 19-year-old Jacquez Griffin on a charge of second-degree murder. They have not released any information about motive.

Along with his work in education, Broderick Brooks served as a pastor and publicist in Clinton. He left behind a wife and three children.
