CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson is asking for an investigation after a video surfaced that appears to show an officer kicking a man in the head.

Terrance Hobson tells TV station WMAQ (https://bit.ly/1tnGWhO ) he shot the video that was posted Monday afternoon on Facebook showing an arrest on the city’s West Side.

The video shows an officer lying on top of a suspect on the ground, trying to detain him. A second officer who is standing appears to kick the suspect.

Police said in a statement that after viewing the video, Johnson asked the Independent Police Review Authority to investigate while the department gathers more information.

An IPRA spokesperson couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

Hobson tells the TV station he doesn’t know what led to the suspect’s arrest.
