FORT DODGE, Iowa (AP) - The Fort Dodge City Council has approved buying a new ambulance for the Fire Department and donating the old one to Webster City.

The Messenger reports (https://bit.ly/1Q12zPv ) that the new ambulance will cost $210,000. On Monday the council approved buying the new ambulance and buying two sport utility vehicles and one sedan for the Police Department.

Assistant Fire Chief Lenny Sanders told the council the condition of the 2001-model ambulance being replaced would lower its price if it were auctioned. He instead proposed donating it to the Webster City Fire Department, which intends to use it to tow a boat and carry water rescue gear.

Webster City sits about 18 miles east of Fort Dodge in central Iowa.
