HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut officials have launched an investigation into the possible use of excessive force by Hartford police.

Hartford police said Tuesday night the Connecticut State’s Attorney’s office is looking into the June 4 incident.

Hartford, West Hartford and state police were all involved in a police pursuit that began when Hartford police say they tried to stop a stolen car. When it reached West Hartford, police used stop sticks to bring it to a halt.

Hartford police say officers used force including a stun gun to arrest the driver and a passenger. They both appeared to have suffered facial injuries at some point during the arrest. Police say a West Hartford cruiser camera also appeared to show an officer kicking or stomping one of the suspects after he was handcuffed.
