NEW YORK (AP) - New York City Police Commissioner William Bratton is predicting that this year’s gay pride parade will be the largest in the city’s history in the wake of the Orlando nightclub shooting that left 49 people dead.

Bratton made the comment on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Tuesday. He says it’s very important to show solidarity with the community which is being targeted by international threats and others.

The city’s top police official also noted that the NYPD has a sizeable number of gay officers.

The parade in Manhattan is scheduled for June 26. It starts at 36th Street and Fifth Avenue in midtown and ends at Christopher and Greenwich streets in the West Village.
