WEST BEND, Wis. (AP) - West Bend police say a 6-year-old girl has died after she was pulled from a pond during a family outing over the weekend.

The police department says on its Facebook page that Swannie Her was pronounced dead Tuesday at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Wauwatosa.

Police say the child was found unresponsive in Regner Park swimming pond shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday. A swimmer who is not a member of the girl’s family found her, carried her to shore and called for help.

CPR was performed, and the girl was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital before being transferred to Children’s Hospital.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1Yq08r5 ) reports the girl’s death remains under investigation. But police say it appears to be an accidental drowning.
