TOPSHAM, Maine (AP) - Firefighters from 10 Maine towns have battled a major blaze that broke out at a scrap metal yard in Topsham.

The fire was reported just before 6 p.m. Monday at Grimmel Industries near the Androscoggin River. No injuries were reported.

WCSH-TV reports that much of the town was filled with smoke. It took crews several hours to contain the flames. Firefighters remained on the scene late into the night putting out hot spots.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
