BARNEGAT, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey teacher is being reinstated after a state-appointed arbitrator found the district failed to properly document accusations that he inappropriately touched a female student.

Barnegat Township district officials say they’ll reinstate Kevin Karp for the 2016-17 school year based on last month’s ruling.

Karp taught technology at Brackman Middle School and was a sports coach.

He was accused of repeatedly brushing up against the student and making lewd comments. Another student says Karp touched her inappropriately.

Arbitrator Edmund Gerber dismissed tenure charges against Karp and ordered he get his job back. He says the school never gave important details about the incidents and never spoke to the students.
