SHERBURNE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities have identified a 14-year-old boy who died in an all-terrain vehicle crash in upstate New York last month.

Chenango (shuh-NANG’-goh) County deputies were called to an ATV crash on May 5 in Sherburne, about 40 miles southeast of Syracuse.

Authorities found a teen pinned facedown under the overturned vehicle. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Investigators had said the teen apparently hit a piece of farm equipment, causing the ATV to go over an embankment and land on top of the Madison County teen.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse requested case records under the Freedom of Information Law after authorities refused to identify the teen.

The newspaper reported (https://bit.ly/1UOQefM ) Tuesday authorities identified the teen in the accident report as William Bassett of Madison.
