DETROIT (AP) - Police say they’ve found a baby girl who was reportedly taken from her mother in Detroit by a 21-year-old acquaintance.

An Amber Alert was issued Wednesday for the child, who police say was taken from a home on the city’s east side about 11 p.m. Tuesday by the man, who fled on foot.

Detroit police Sgt. Michael Woody tells reporters that the child was recovered safe Wednesday morning and the man was taken into custody.

Police say the girl is 5 or 6 months old and the man has mental health issues.
