NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A Denham Springs woman has been sentenced to 2½ years in prison for bank fraud.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite (poh-LEET) says in a Tuesday news release that 41-year-old Kristin Koenig (KOH’-nig) was sentenced after a guilty plea.

Prosecutors say she embezzled more than $600,000 from a Jefferson Parish business that employed her to do accounting work. She forged her name on company checks and manipulated computer and accounting records. The scheme stretched from September 2011 through July 2014. Prosecutors say Koenig also embezzled nearly $22,000 from a second client.

In addition to prison time, Koenig must make more than $623,000 in restitution.
