CHULA VISTA, Calif. (AP) - A federal agent has shot and killed a man who tried to rob him during an undercover drug-trafficking investigation in San Diego County.

Authorities say a planned meeting between the undercover agent and suspected traffickers turned violent Tuesday afternoon in the parking lot of a Chula Vista strip mall.

The suspect was pronounced dead at a hospital. His name hasn’t been released.

Chula Vista police say three other suspected drug dealers fled in a car and were arrested after it crashed.

Police say a fourth man was found hiding in the trunk of another car in the parking lot, and a fifth was arrested at the U.S. border with Mexico.
