SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 19-year-old community college student whose body was found outside in subzero cold in February after he left a party died from hypothermia and alcohol intoxication.

Alex Hendry was reported missing by his Onondaga (ahn-uhn-DAH’-gah) Community College roommate February when he didn’t return from an off-campus party on Feb. 14. His body was found face down in the snow near the college’s baseball fields in Syracuse a day later.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports (https://bit.ly/1XWtX49 ) authorities this week said Hendry’s death has been ruled an accident. Officials said his blood alcohol content was high enough that he would have been too drunk to legally drive.

The National Weather Service says temperatures ranged from minus 16 to minus 23 degrees the morning the college freshman left the party.
