PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia police have released the name of a 17-year-old girl killed by a hit-and-run driver and her father is pleading with the driver to surrender.

Police say Markalyah Jackson was in a crosswalk and walking with the green light when she was hit by a minivan about 11:30 p.m. Monday.

Police say the van would also have had the green light, but should have yielded before making a turn across the crosswalk and striking Jackson.

Police say the van was apparently driving at a high rate of speed as Jackson was thrown about 160 feet through the air at impact.

Her father, Khaliff Williams, says, “I just want the person who hit my daughter to come forward.”

Jackson was the oldest of six siblings.
