BELLE CHASSE, La. (AP) - The Plaquemines (PLAK-uh-minz) Parish government says Parish President Amos Cormier (KOHRM-yay) Jr. is recovering from a procedure to clear a blocked artery.

Spokesman Michael Powell said by phone Wednesday that he doesn’t have details about the procedure.

In a news release Wednesday, he said Cormier was hospitalized Tuesday for tests.

Powell says that although Cormier’s still hospitalized, he’s in continuous communication with the parish’s three directors.
