BLACKFOOT, Idaho (AP) - Police say a southeast Idaho man who crashed his car through a neighbor’s house and sparked a ferocious fire that killed the elderly male homeowner has been taken into custody.

The Blackfoot Police Department tells the Idaho State Journal that the crash occurred about 10 p.m. Tuesday in Blackfoot and possibly severed a natural gas line.

Police tell the Idaho State Journal (https://bit.ly/1Uv20h0) that the vehicle smashed through the garage portion and came to a stop in the backyard.

Police say the driver then walked to his nearby residence where he was later taken into custody.

Police have not released the names of those involved.
