RENO, Nev. (AP) - Reno City Council incumbents David Bobzien (BAHB’-zee-ihn) and Jenny Brekhus (BRECK’-uhss) cruised to victory in their primaries in the only two council races on the ballot.

Bobzien, a former state assemblyman, won 63 percent of the vote Tuesday night for the at-large seat that he was appointed to in 2014 when Hillary Schieve (SHEE’-vee) was elected mayor.

He will face off in November against former Washoe County Republican Party Chairman Sam Kumar, who finished second in the primary with 15 percent of the vote.

Brekhus won 54 percent of the vote in search of her second term. Her opponent in November will be Reno immigration lawyer Victor Salcido, who was second with 40 percent of the vote.
