OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - The Latest on a shooting of four people in downtown Oakland (all times local):

9:40 p.m.

Police in Oakland, California, say a 16-year-old girl has died from after being shot in the city’s downtown area, where another three people were wounded.

The Oakland Police Department initially said five people had been shot Tuesday evening. The department then corrected the information to six people wounded, and finally said a total of four people had been shot, including a teenage girl who died at a hospital.

Police say those who were shot range in age from mid-teens to early twenties.

The department says the shooting happened during a vigil two blocks away for someone drowned last year in Salinas, California.

It’s unclear if the shooting is connected to the memorial gathering.

7:58 p.m.

Oakland police say six people have been shot in the city’s downtown area and that a teenage girl is in critical condition.

The Oakland Police Department says a 16-year-old girl is listed in grave condition and that the other victims in Tuesday evening’s shooting are in stable condition.

Police say the victims range in age from mid-teens to early twenties.

The department says the shooting happened during a vigil two blocks away for someone drowned last year in Salinas, California.

It’s unclear if the shooting is connected to the memorial gathering.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports the broad-daylight shooting sent people ducking for cover.

Mason Stone tells the newspaper people were running “every which way.”
