GARDNERVILLE, Nev. (AP) - Officials say dozens of people have been displaced after a fire destroyed several units of a townhouse complex in northern Nevada.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Bernadette Smith says evacuations were in progress when deputies and firefighters arrived at the Gardnerville complex on Tuesday evening. She says one person was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

According to Smith, it took 50 firefighters to extinguish the blaze.

Red Cross volunteers are helping relocate 30 to 40 displaced residents.
