GREENWOOD, Del. (AP) - Officials in Delaware say two people are dead and one person seriously injured after a solo car crash near Greenwood.

Delaware State Police say the crash happened Saturday around 5:30 a.m.

State Police say the driver of a 2005 Dodge Neon was driving on Shawnee Road when for unknown reasons the car left the road and ultimately hit a tree.

State Police say the driver of the vehicle, 21-year-old Milford man, was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle and died. A 19-year-old passenger who was not wearing his seatbelt was also killed.

Another passenger, also a 21-year-old man from Milford, was hospitalized with serious injuries. He too was not wearing his seatbelt.

State Police say alcohol may have been a contributing factor in this collision.
