DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Iowa authorities are searching for an inmate who did not return to a residential work release facility.

The Des Moines Register reports (https://dmreg.co/24XJYp7 ) that 27-year-old Deron Humes III escaped from the Fort Des Moines Release Facility on Friday. A news release from the Iowa Department of Corrections say he failed to return to the facility from his job.

Humes began serving his 10-year sentence in October 2014 after being convicted of intimidation with a dangerous weapon. He was transferred to work release by the Iowa Board of Parole on May 10.

Anyone with information about Humes’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Des Moines Police Department or the Polk County Sheriff’s Department.
