WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) - A man who was sought in a manhunt after a January shooting near Watford City has been sentenced to a year in prison.

The Williston Herald reports that Kyle Fuchs pleaded guilty in state court to misdemeanor assault. Prosecutors dropped three felony charges.

The 33-year-old Fuchs told police he shot 23-year-old Vladislav Gorelik Jr. in the hip after Fuchs said he witnessed two men beating a woman at the residence.

Gorelik told police he arrived at the home to find one of his relatives with a bloody face and Fuchs with a gun. Gorelik says several shots were fired before Gorelik managed to get the gun away from Fuchs and throw it into the yard.

Fuchs says he didn’t know police were looking for him until two days later.
